I'm building an XS roadracer for vintage class racing. I just finished the basic bike and started it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The chassis has the stock frame braced and trimmed of excess brackets and hardware and the stock swingarm was replaced by the similar, but larger diameter TX750 arm. Wheels are both 18" diameter with Avon racing rubber spooned on. The forks were reworked with cartridge emulators and air assist for improved response, the rear suspension has the top shock mounts moved forward to raise the rear for better weight distribution and is damped by vintage Fox Airshox, just to be cool. Motor breathing is handled by a pair if 36mm Mikuni flat slide carbs on the intake and a 2-1 header flowing into a Shell racing megaphone that has a weak excuse for muffling built in. The motor internals are stock at the moment, but I will soon add the Yamaha factory racing spec ported head with new valves and a race cam. The bore will also be increased to either 700cc or 750cc, to be determined soon. By early 2010 I hope to have this baby on the race track for track days so I can do final tuning and learn the ropes for future racing.
