Was going to build a softy for my aging ass, that was fine with my ass but my heart just wasn't into it, so it's chop time...

carfully bend tube...

notching tube with tube notcher in drill press...

all the tubes bent and cut with slugs turned out of 1'' roundbar.

I will be using homemade tube axle holders insted of axle plates. Will tighten chain with a chain tensioner, rear axle tubes mounted on jig and ready to have tail tacked in place...

with the tubing notcher it's a perfect fit everytime...

all tacked in and ready to tig. The bike is 2" shorter and droped 3" and raked 15 deg from stock. the entire frame was tilted forward in the jig, this will give the engine a forward slant and lower the look of the backbone also. I will tig it all together over the holiday weekend and post pictures of it as a roller then.

Finally got the frame welded up and is a roller again...

some tig welds...

here it is next to my stock "77" so you can get an idea of size.

next I will be taking 2 inches out of the forks so the bike will stay the same hight as it is now without the tubes sticking up out of the tree's. I have to make a frame for a customer and a few sets of exhaust pipes to pay the bills but hope to be back to this build soon.

The frame on this build is SHORTER then stock by 2" in the tail and neck is raked to 42deg. The frame was modified with it tilting forward in the jig so the motor will be angled forward to give it a racer look. My favorite bike of all time (so far) was built by "Art of Racer" out of France. The bike was built for arts sake more then function but I love the scale of it, it's a tiny little bike that makes the motor and wheels look huge. This bike is the inspiration for this build.

OK last we left off it was a roller, I now have droped the engine back in so I can start sorting out some things, exhaust, chain tightener, controls e.t.c... I bought an old police siren on e-bay that I thought would make a cool headlight. I've been looking for this very siren for a few months now so when it came up on e-bay it was going to be mine
I just bought this 60+ yr old siren and now had to cut it up to make it a headlight. I'm not rich and have no money so mentaly this was part was tough for me. It just was not going to work as it was so...

Now I'm going to make the bracket for the light. I'm going to cut all this out by hand just using a angle grinder. I love the "art deco" era and wanted some of that style on this bike, so my bracket will have that influence in it.

cutting out the mounting plate...

and mounted to the bike.

I make handlebars now too just like the ones on my black/white chopper if anyone wants a pair email me for special price, just say you found them hear.

Well I’ve been trying to come up with a seat for this thing and not sure which direction to go? Should I go traditional or something different? Here is a Photoshop picture of something different. I’m also thinking of low bars and mid to maybe rear-set type of controls to go with the racer style seat and will be using a high pipe set up not the pipes on it now. I just keep second guessing myself and would hate to have all this fab time into a styling blunder.
I watched “Metropolis” a while back, a silent film that’s a cult sci -fi classic and for good reason. The movie is full of art deco styling, machines and streamline shapes and I couldn’t help but be inspired by it’s artistic vision. the movie is one reason for my headlight and me wanting to follow that theme into the seat and fender. If you look at some of the streamlined cars of the 30's like the beautiful “Auburn Cord” you’ll see what I’m going for.
Unless I get a bunch of replys saying "thats the most hiddious thing i've ever seen!" I think I might do it. p.s. you should never care about what other people have to say about your style build, if your having fun and like what you did you did the right thing (as long as it's safe) I am just stuck at the moment and respect the opinion of fellow builders to nudge me thru it, not that I'll take that advice, but I do repect it.

here is latest drawing, thinking seat will be seperate from fender with springs just like a regular seat.

Scott... love the concept! Having seen your other work on 650rider, I'm sure
your execution will make it worthwhile. Go for it!
